Meet the team
Hello!
I have had two boy have Stollery stays (Jaxson in 2021 and Reese in 2024). We were so thankful for everything during our journeys that I knew right away we would give back anyway we could!
This will be Reese’s 2nd lemonade stand as he does it in memory of his brother Jaxson as well as a way to give back for his own Stollery stay!
A little bit about the boys :
Jaxson was born at 29 weeks. He was born with multiple heart defects. Jaxson came into the world fighting with all odds stacked against him. Medical teams told us he wouldn’t make it through the delivery. Jaxson went through 2 cath producers and needed a special medication brought in from New Zealand. We made sure we made every day count with him. Jaxson went through ups with many downs. He was extubated 4 times – with the longest time being his last which during this time we were able to make some very special wishes come true which included; family photos, meeting of grandparents (which was a very hard fight as this was during COVID times). Unfortunately at this time Jaxson turned for the worst and continued downhill. He went into liver failure due to all the medications and unable to take feds and other complications from early delivery. On Aug 20th, at 5 months old, Jaxson took his last breath while being cuddled in my (mom’s) arms. I can’t thank the amazing team at the David Shift site of the Stollery for the time with Jaxson.
Reese was born at 28 weeks & 5 days. He was born early but healthy. He spent 7 weeks at the NICU at the Royal Alex hospital. He just need sometime to grow and get stronger. He surprised everyone by coming home on April 12th after meeting all his goals (the expected home date was May 10th!). Reese is now up to 20lbs and just about walking! He loves food and playing!
