Stollery Lemonade Stand Fundraiser

Join us on Sunday, August 30th for the 13th Annual Lemonade Stand Day in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. Hosted by the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and Simply Supper, this special event brings communities together to create memories, raise awareness, and support an important cause. This year, funds raised will help purchase NICView cameras for Stollery neonatal intensive care units across northern Alberta. These cameras allow families to see their babies anytime and from anywhere through a safe and secure live webcam video feed, helping parents stay connected during some of the most difficult and emotional moments of their lives.

For our family, supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation is deeply personal.

Meet Aedan, a spry, funny, and energetic 8-year-old who has a knack for making people laugh and finding joy in every day. While he enjoys all the adventures that come with being a kid, Aedan has been living with a rare liver disease called biliary atresia since birth.

Biliary atresia is a serious condition that affects the bile ducts, which carry bile from the liver to the small intestine. In babies born with this condition, the bile ducts are blocked or absent, causing bile to become trapped in the liver. Over time, this can lead to scarring, liver damage, and eventually liver failure if left untreated. Although biliary atresia is rare, it is one of the leading reasons children require liver transplants. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical in giving children the best possible outcome.

Shortly after he was born, Aedan was diagnosed with biliary atresia. At just 79 days old, he underwent the Kasai procedure at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. This delicate surgery helps restore bile flow from the liver and can slow the progression of liver damage. While Aedan continues to live with a lifelong liver condition, the care he received gave him the opportunity to grow into the happy, resilient, and active child he is today.

Throughout Aedan’s journey, the Stollery Children’s Hospital and its incredible team of doctors, nurses, surgeons, specialists, and support staff have been nothing short of amazing. Their expertise, compassion, and dedication have guided our family through challenging times and provided us with hope when we needed it most. They have answered countless questions, supported us through every milestone, and delivered world-class care that has made an immeasurable difference in Aedan’s life.

As parents, we understand how important it is to feel connected to your child during a hospital stay. The NICView cameras being funded through this year’s Lemonade Stand Day will help families experience that connection, even when they cannot be physically present at their baby’s bedside. For families navigating medical challenges, those moments of reassurance and comfort can mean everything.

By supporting the Stollery Lemonade Stand, hosted by the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and Simply Supper, you are helping children and families across Alberta receive exceptional care and innovative support services. Every cup of lemonade purchased and every donation made helps ensure that families facing difficult diagnoses have access to the resources, technology, and specialized treatment they need.

Thank you for supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, Simply Supper, and the incredible work being done for children and families throughout Alberta. Together, we can help create brighter futures—one cup of lemonade at a time.
