Claire’s Lemonade

Hello Welcome to our little stand, in advance i will ask you to please forgive me bad grammar and spelling.

This is our first year participating in Lemonade Stand Day, so it’s a very new experience for our family. I’m not quite sure what to write here, so I guess I’ll tell you why we’re doing this.

It all started back in December, when I was trying to create a teachable moment with my kids about the importance of finances and how to use money after they had received some as a gift. As the conversation progressed and my daughter, Charlotte, kept asking questions, we got onto the topic of using the money to set up a lemonade stand and learning how to make a profit.

Now, I know exactly what youre thinking: “What a capitalist just all about the money” And perhaps youre right. But here is the most unexpected and beautiful twist to the story.

As I kept explaining to my daughter how we would need to buy materials and figure out how much we would need to sell each cup for in order to make money, she stopped me and said, “Dad, I want to give all the money we make to charity.”

From there, after doing some research, I came across Lemonade Stand Day and it was everything we wanted to do.

But wait, there’s more! Our stand’s name is Claire’s Lemonade, and my daughter’s name is Charlotte. So who is this mysterious Claire?

Well, she is Charlotte’s cousin but she’s not just that. She is also a superhero: a brave and strong little girl who at just 2–3 years old, was diagnosed with leukemia. With the amazing and loving support of the Stollery, she was able to beat it.

Now, at age 9, Claire has been able to live a full and joyous life thanks to the incredible people and facilities that supported her along the way.

And that’s why we are putting up Claire’s Lemonade. We want to help. We want to give other little superheroes a chance to beat their illnesses. We want them to have the opportunity to experience a full, happy, and joyous life.

That’s what this lemonade stand means to us.
